Golf Manitoba Executive Director Jared Ladobruk is pleased to announce 24 Junior Boys and 15 Junior Girls have been named to the 2024 Team Manitoba roster.

These junior golfers will train and compete in various tournaments throughout the season representing our province under the guidance of Team Manitoba Boys Head Coach Sean Murray and Team Manitoba Girls Head Coach Bri-ann Tokariwski.

The Junior Boys Gold Team roster features Carson Inman of Breezy Bend Country Club and Portage Golf Club, Jackson Delaurier of Dauphin Lake Golf Club, Kaleb Lambert of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, Gavin Carver and Hunter Oakden of Glendale Golf & Country Club, Pine Ridge Golf Club members Adam Blair and Liam Comaskey, Brayden Boge of Rossmere Country Club, Payne Wood of St. Boniface Golf Club, St. Charles Country Club members Grady Chuback and Owen Conrad, Spence Mott of Shilo Golf & Country Club, Southwood Golf & Country Club’s Terence Rafferty, Ty Brewster of the Steinbach Fly-In Golf Club and Golf Manitoba Public Players Club members Hudson Hunnie and Ryder St. Laurent.

“We are super excited to announce our teams who are filled with exceptional players” said Boys Head Coach Sean Murray. “After being away at college, we expect Grady and Kaleb to bring that experience and lead by example on and off the course for our younger players. Terrence, Payne, Jackson, Carson and Brayden return to the team after having terrific seasons last year looking to continue that momentum they created. Hudson and Adam return for their second year after being the younger guys on the team, we have seen them continue to grow and get stronger which will create exciting opportunities for them. Then, we added Ty, Gavin, Liam, Hunter, Ryder, and Owen who had seasons last year that could not be rewarded. We hope joining the team will help them gain experience and have that support system that will help them continue to climb the ladder.”

The Junior Girls will be divided into two teams:

The Gold Team roster features Keira Krahn and India Young of the Carman Golf & Curling Club, Glendale Golf & Country Club member Payton Oakden, Gracie McMillan of Pine Ridge Golf Club and Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Crystal Zamzow.

The Black Team roster includes Elmhurst’s Angelina Sitarz, Erin Nowicki of Pine Ridge along with Golf Manitoba Public Players Club members Sadie Blazeiko, Emily Devlin and Maisy Shewchuk.

“I am excited to work with this hungry and enthusiastic gorup of girls this season” said Girls Head Coach Bri-ann Tokariwski. “The girls are already working hard in workouts and practices to be ready for the upcoming season. We have also added to our program some of the best in sports psychology and nutrition professionals in Manitoba to assist our athletes.”

Looking into the future, eight Junior Boys and five Junior Girls have been recognized for their potential and named to Team Manitoba’s Blue practice squad rosters.

The boys roster includes Brady Comaskey (Pine Ridge), Xavier Delaquis (Golf Manitoba Public Player), Colton Drul (Elmhurst), Hunter MacLean (Carman), Aris Mercury (Glendale), Ryder Pufahl (Rossmere), Grant Secord (Golf Manitoba Public Player) and Austin Tutkaluk (Golf Manitoba Public Player).

Honing their skills for the future girls are Jordyn Chetyrbok (Golf Manitoba Public Player), Annika Gording (Elmhurst), Leah Klippenstein (Golf Manitoba Public Player), Kate McMillan (Pine Ridge) and Mikaila Pador (Golf Manitoba Public Player).

“As an association, we are excited to see the future of golf continuing to grow” said Golf Manitoba Executive Director Jared Ladobruk. “We are thrilled to see a number of Manitobans who have moved on to play competitive golf at the college and professional levels. With commitment and dedication from our 2024 Team Manitoba members we hope they too can one day achieve their goals as well”. 

Team Manitoba will once again benefit greatly from the generosity of the Alex and Peggy Colonello Foundation while also receiving support from the Integrated Support Team at Sport Manitoba Performance that will help enhance the athletes’ skills through fitness, nutrition, and development of the mental side of the game.

Golf Manitoba, in association with the CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open, are pleased to announce the 2024 champion of the Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur will earn an exemption into the PGA Tour Americas event this summer.

The CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open is scheduled for August 22nd to 25th at Southwood Golf & Country Club.

2022 and 2023 Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur champion Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club has competed in the last two Manitoba Open championships.

It was also announced earlier this week Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg will take part as an exemption following in the footsteps of Morgan Barron, Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele.

WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame and Museum is pleased to announce the Class of 2022 & 2023. Hugh Allan and Gavin Speirs (Class of 2022) and Darcy Furber, Dave McMillan and Adam Speirs (Class of 2023) will be inducted as honoured members in the spring of 2024.

Of special note for the induction ceremony of 2024, it will the first time in the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame’s 20-year history that a father and son (Gavin Speirs and Adam Speirs) will be inducted as honoured members.

Golf Manitoba is pleased to announce its 2024 Championship Schedule.

As the Provincial Sport Organization and governing body of golf in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario, Golf Manitoba conducts premier amateur golf championships to support the development of the province’s competitive golfers at Golf Manitoba member clubs.

The 2024 championship season begins May 25^th at the Winkler Golf & Country Club with the Manitoba Match Play Qualifier presented by St. Vital Dental Centre and concludes with the Men’s Four-Ball Championship September 19th at Grand Pines Golf Club.

“With the calendar only a couple weeks away from January, we are excited to officially announce our 2024 Championship Schedule” said Director of Competition and Rules David Borowski. “2023 showed record numbers of people enjoying our sport and we are looking forward to growing those numbers even more in 2024. I would like to express our gratitude to the member clubs who have opened their doors allowing us to play at their course this year.”

Early registration will open from April 1^st to April 15^th for select players and based on their finish in 2023 Golf Manitoba Championships. These players will receive an email informing them of their status.

General registration will open on April 16^th.

In addition to Golf Manitoba’s annual events, we are pleased to celebrate our athletes August 11^th to 14^th who will take part in the Manitoba Summer Games in Dauphin.

2024 Golf Manitoba Championship Season Calendar at a glance:

The first competitive tee in the ground will be May 25 at the Winkler Centennial Golf Course for the Manitoba Match Play Championship Qualifier presented by St. Vital Dental Centre.

Breezy Bend Country Club will then host the championship matches from May 27 to June 2. It will be the fifth time in course history they host the event. Looking back in the record books, Breezy Bend members Jesse Skelton (2011), Garth Collings (1996) and Bill Parker (1981) previously won the Men’s Championship on their home course.

The John Blumberg Golf Course will host the All Abilities Championship, Women’s City & District Championship and U15 Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation June 14^th and 15th.

For the first time in course history the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur and Women’s Amateur Championship will be played at the Neepawa Golf & Country Club July 4^th to 6^th. Jeri Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course will be vying for her third consecutive Women’s Amateur championship.

The Junior Boys & Girls Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation will be played July 10^th to 12^th at Niakwa Country Club. The last time this event was held at Niakwa, Stony Mountain’s Aaron Cockerill won the Junior Boys Championship in 2010.

Rossmere Country Club will host the Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Championship July 22^nd to 24^th. Breezy Bend’s Braxton Kuntz will be looking to become the first player in Manitoba history to win four consecutive Men’s Amateur championships.

The busy month of July comes to an end at Selkirk Golf & Country Club from the 29^th to 31^st as they host the Hodson Financial Men’s & Women’s Senior Championship. Rhonda Orr of Southwood Golf & Country Club is vying for her ninth straight and 11^th Senior Women’s Championship.

The popular two person four-ball championships close our summer of competition with the Women playing August 8^th at Portage Golf Club, the Men’s Senior event at Shilo Country Club September 5^th followed by the Men’s championship two weeks later at Grand Pines Golf Club on September 19^th.

Manitoba Amateur Championships

Golf Manitoba annually conducts provincial golf competitions and qualifiers – which play host to more than 900 golfers who play over 1,700 rounds.

On behalf of Selection Committee members Clayton Dreger, Jill Hardy, Adam Speirs and Ken Wiebe, Golf Manitoba is pleased to recognize the 2023 Amateur Golfer of the Year Award winners. 

This year’s recipients were announced on October 25, 2023, at the annual Golf Manitoba Awards presented by AVID GOLF that was held at the Glendale Golf & Country Club.

Rhonda Orr of Southwood Golf & Country Club is the 2023 Female Amateur Golfer of the Year. 

Orr, 62, from Winnipeg, won the Hodson Financial Women’s Senior Championship and Super Senior Championship. She finished third in the Diamond Athletic Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, fourth at the British Columbia Women’s Senior Championship, T7 at the Canadian Women’s Senior Championship and ninth at the Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur Championship. The Southwood Golf & Country Club member also qualified for the U.S. Senior Women’s Open.

Orr has won the last eight consecutive and 10 of the last 11 Hodson Financial Women’s Senior Championships. With the selection, it is the fifth time that Orr has been recognized as Female Amateur Golfer of the Year (2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023).

Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club is the 2023 Male Amateur Golfer of the Year.

Kuntz, 19, from Winnipeg, won the Manitoba Match Play Championship presented by St. Vital Dental Centre and the Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Championship. Representing Nicholls State University (NCAA) south of the border he placed fourth in the Gulf Coast Collegiate Championship, T6 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational and T7 at the Tunica National Intercollegiate Championship. The Breezy Bend Country Club member was also T8 at the Elmhurst Invitational and T9 at the Glencoe Invitational.

Kuntz was the first player in Manitoba to win both the Manitoba Junior and Men’s Amateur Championship in back-to-back seasons (2021 and 2022). He is also just the third player to have won the Men’s Amateur Championship in three consecutive years (Todd Fanning 1990, 91, 92 and R.J Reith 1935, 36, 37).

With the selection, it is the third time in as many years that Kuntz has been named Male Amateur Golfer of the Year (2021, 2022, 2023).

Kuntz was unavailable to attend the awards banquet in person as he is currently in his junior year at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

The 2023 Female Amateur Golf of the Year Finalists are Addison Kartusch, Cala Korman, Jeri Lafleche and Rhonda Orr.

The Golf Manitoba Awards selection committee would also like to recognize Charmaine Hayden (2nd place at the Mid-Amateur Championship of the Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur Championship and 3^rd place at the Women’s City & District) and Crystal Zamzow (Champion of the Junior Girls Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation and Champion of the Junior Girls Division at the Elmhurst Invitational) on their accomplishments during the 2023 season.

The 2023 Male Amateur Golfer of the Year finalists are Jay Doyle, Todd Fanning, Braxton Kuntz and Marco Trstenjak.

The Golf Manitoba Awards selection committee would also like to recognize Curtis Markusson (Mid-Masters Champion at the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship) and Patrick Perrin (Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Champion) for their play during the 2023 season.

Golf Manitoba Executive Director Jared Ladobruk announced today a new multi-year partnership with AVID GOLF.

Under the agreement, AVID GOLF will become the presenting partner of the annual Golf Manitoba Awards event until 2025.

Marvellous Meadows Golf Course features a driving range, putting green and a full menu in their restaurant. Every Wednesday is Kids Day where they can play free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

As an official Golf Manitoba / Canada member club, all rounds played at Marvellous Meadows Golf Course are acceptable for handicap purposes and may be recorded toward establishing or maintaining an official Golf Canada Handicap Index.
