Team Manitoba sits a top of the leaderboard after the opening round of the 2024 Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
Lyle Mackenzie (Niakwa Country Club) opened with a 1-under par 69 while Drew Jones (Shilo Country Club) shot even par 70.
The combined team score of 139 gives Manitoba a four-shot advantage in the Inter-Provincial Team Championship over British Columbia and Alberta.
Allan McDonald (Breezy Bend Country Club), also playing for Team Manitoba, carded a 5-over par 75.
Manitoba’s round of the day Tuesday at the Carlton Golf & Yacht Club in Manotick, Ontario belonged to Tyson Ehnes (Lorette Golf Course). He is second on the leaderboard, just one stroke back of Toronto’s David Lang, after shooting a 4-under par 66. Ehnes’ round featured seven birdies and eight pars along with three bogeys.
