Elmhurst set to host Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Championship

One of the largest fields in recent history is set to tee off Thursday morning at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club.

147 competitors are registered in the 111th playing of the Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Championship.

Defending champion, and two time Junior Boys Champion Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club will be in the opening group to tee off at 7:00.

Kuntz, coming off an 11 stroke victory last week at St. Charles Country Club in the Junior Boys Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation, edged fellow Breezy Bend member Ryan Sholdice by 1 stroke last year at the Neepawa Golf & Country Club.

With this year’s championship decided over 54 holes, the field will be cut following two rounds to the low 60 and ties as well as any players within 10 strokes of first place.

The 2022 Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Champion will also be given an exemption into the Manitoba Open, August 18-21 at Southwood Golf & Country Club.

Manitobans display their talents at Golf Canada Junior Skills Challenge

Golf Manitoba would like to congratulate all 31 participants who took part in the Golf Canada Junior Skills Challenge.

Competitors from 8 to 18 years old tested their skills in chipping, driving and putting at Southwood Golf & Country Club.

Peake top Manitoban after opening round at Canadian Women’s Amateur

Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Clara Peake had the low score of the day for our province’s competitors in the opening round of the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship presented by BDO in Kitchener, Ontario.

Peake carded a 7 over par 80 and sits tied for 69th on the leaderboard.

Kartusch & Kuntz win Junior Championships presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation at St. Charles Country Club

Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country shot an 8 under par 64 in his final round to win the 100th Junior Boys Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.

Kuntz finished the three day event at St. Charles Country Club with a 203 total, good for an 11 stroke victory over Grady Chuback of the host course.

Kuntz also wins the 17 & 17 age group by 13 strokes over Elmhurst Golf & Country Club’s Ryan Blair.

Chuback earned a 12 stroke victory in the 15 & 16 age group over Portage Golf Club’s Carson Inman.

Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Adam Blair carded an 81 in his final round to claim the 13 & 14 age group over Brayden Boge of Pine Ridge Golf Club.

Addison Kartusch, of the host course, shot a final round 76 earning a 13 stroke victory in the 81st Junior Girls Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.

Kartusch finished the event at 225 while Crystal Zamzow of Swan River Golf & Country Club placed second with an 84 and 238 tournament total.

Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Clara Peake won the 17 & 18 age group by five strokes over Whitewater Golf Club’s Reese Keating.

Jewel Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course finished first in the 12 & under age group.

Grady Chuback, of the host St. Charles Country Club, shot a 2 under par 70 Thursday and is tied with first round leader Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club at 5 under par 139 going into Friday’s final round of the 100th Junior Boys Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.

Kuntz shot even par 72 in his second round.

RESULTS | Opening round of the Junior Boys & Girls Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation

Defending Champion Braxton Kuntz, of Breezy Bend Country, made five birdies in his opening round of the 100th Junior Boys Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation.

Kuntz’s 67 was two strokes better than Brady Chuback of the host, St. Charles Country Club. Chuback also carded five birdies. They were the only two players to shoot below par.

Kuntz also leads the 17 & 18 year old age group by six strokes over Bel Acres Golf & Country Club’s Noah Fiks.

Chubak has a seven stroke lead over Kaleb Lambert of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club in the 15 & 16 age group.

Hudson Hunnie, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member leads the 13 & 14 age group by six strokes over Pine Ridge Golf Club’s Brayden Boge, St. Boniface Golf Club’s Ryan Tuck and Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Max Boese.

St. Charles Country Club set to host 100th Junior Boys & 81st Junior Girls Championships presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation

57 of the province’s elite junior boys are part of a special field this year as the 100th playing of the Junior Boys Championship presented by the Alex & Peggy Colonello Foundation tees off this (Wednesday) morning.

Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club and Elmhurst Golf & Country Club’s Ryan Blair are in the first pairing to tee off at 7:30, who will compete on the Woods and Ross courses at St. Charles Country Club. Kuntz looks to defend his championship following last summer’s victory at Shilo Country Club.

Ryan McMillan was the last back to back winner in 2017 and 2018.

Lafleche & Sholdice win Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur & Men’s Mid-Amateur Championships at Granite Hills Golf Club

15 year old Jeri Lafleche of Clear Lake Golf Course won the Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur Championship at Granite Hills Golf Club Friday afternoon shooting a final round 4 over par 76, earning a six stroke victory over Southwood Golf & Country Club’s Rhonda Orr.

Lafleche finished the 54 hole event with a 232 total.

Orr won the Mid-Amateur Division Championship with her 238 total by one stroke over Breezy Bend Country Club’s Charmaine Mackid.

Ryan Sholdice

Breezy Bend’s Ryan Sholdice earned a two stroke victory in the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship with a tournament total 224. Sholdice carded a final round 77 to edge Drew Jones of Shilo Country Club who finished play with a 78.

Joe Scharf of Whitewater Golf Club won the Mid-Masters Division with a 3 over par 75 and 229 total, 7 strokes better than Lorne Duncan of Rossmere Country Club and St. Charles Country Club’s Curtis Markusson.

Ryan Sholdice of Breezy Bend Country Club had four birdies while shooting a 2 under par 70 Thursday at Granite Hills Golf Club and has a one stroke lead over Drew Jones of Shilo Country Club entering the final round of the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Sholdice is at 3 over par 147 though 36 holes. Jones shot a 1 over 73 to sit at 148.

Curtis Markusson of St. Charles Country Club (79-74 -153) and Niakwa Country Club’s Jay Doyle (78-75-153) share the lead in the Mid-Masters Division.

Allan McDonald of Breezy Bend Country Club made six birdies on his way to an even par 72 to lead the field after the opening 18 holes of play in the Diamond Athletic Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Granite Hills Golf Club.

McDonald (38-34), has a two stroke lead over Ben Bandura of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club (74) and is three strokes better than Shilo Country Club’s Drew Jones (75).

Bandura leads the Mid-Masters Division by two strokes over Joe Scharf of Whitewater Golf Club (76) and is four up on Niakwa Country Club’s Jay Doyle (78).

There’s a four way tie atop of the leaderboard in the Diamond Athletic Women’s Amateur Championship at 7 over par 79.

Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Veronica van der Meer, Addison Kartusch of St. Charles Country Club, Charmaine MacKid of Breezy Bend Country Club and Southwood Golf & Country Club’s Rhonda Orr all have a two stroke lead on Clear Lake Golf Course’s Jeri Lafleche and Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Cala Korman.

van der Meer’s round featured an eagle for a deuce on the 14th hole while Kartusch did the same on 16.

van der Meer, Mackid and Orr also share the lead in the Mid-Amateur Division. They have a four stroke advantage on Hannah Diamond of St. Charles Country Club (83).
