Bilawka & Teplitski combine to win Men’s Senior Fourball Championship

The inaugural Men’s Senior Fourball Championship came right down to the wire Friday at Oak Island Golf as the 2022 Open Championship required a countback.
Ron Bilawka and Todd Teplitski of Pine Ridge Golf Club combined to card a 4 under par 68 claiming top spot. Birdies on the 17th and 18th holes earned them the victory over Elmhurst Golf & Country Club members Carl Lechman and David Powell.
The duo of Brad Moore and Lawrence Zebiere, also of Pine Ridge, finished third with a 69, just one stroke back.
Bilawka and Teplitski also combined to win the Club Flight Championship.

Markusson wins Canadian Men’s Mid Master Championship

Winnipeg’s Curtis Markusson shot an 8 over par 78 Friday during his final round of the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
With a 288 tournament total, Markusson won the Mid Master Division by one stroke over Ontario’s Mike Dinner and Rob Couture of Texas.
Overall, the St. Charles Country Club member finished in a tie for 12th place on the leaderboard for the Mid-Amateur Championship.
Charles Fitzsimmons on Ontario won the 2022 title shooting even par 70 in his final round to finish at 275.
Allan McDonald of Breezy Bend Country Club finished in a tie for 62nd place at 303 (76-74-74-79) while Elmhurst Golf & Country Club member Adam Guenther was 69th at 309 (72-78-81-78).
Markusson sits 2nd after 36 holes at Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship

Winnipeg’s Curtis Markusson shot a 4 under par 66 Wednesday at the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.
With a 36 hole total of 139, the St. Charles Country Club member is tied for second place on the leaderboard, just four strokes back of top spot.
A bogey to start the day set Markusson back to 4-over-par on the tournament, but that was as far back as the Gimli, Man., native would fall. The 40-year-old converted on seven birdie putts thereafter – including six in an 11-hole stretch – to reposition himself in the thick of the action.
“Just keep going, and kind of forget about the good things as soon as they happen and just think you’re still grinding to try to make the cut,” Markusson told Golf Canada. “You know, there’s a lot of good players out here and you never know what can happen; a couple of bad swings or a couple of good swings, either way, so you just stayed focused, one shot at a time. You versus you is the mentality basically to play well. If you see too much sometimes you get too in your head and you don’t see enough it’s sometimes a good fresh run,” he added. “You visualize it a bit more and you come out the next day and you’re visually set which is nice.”
Markusson’s 66 also gives him the lead in the Mid-Master division – a subdivision for players 40 and over.
Breezy Bend Country Club’s Allan McDonald (76-74-150) along with Adam Guenther of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club (72-78-150) were the other two Golf Manitoba representatives to make the cut.
Following the second round, the field was cut to the low 70 players and ties, including the low 15 players in the Mid-Master division.
Ontario won the Inter-Provincial Team Competition with a two round total of 4 over par. Manitoba finished tied for 6th place at +22.
Winnipeg’s Guenther 4 strokes off the lead at Canadian Men’s Mid Amateur Championship

Adam Guenther of Winnipeg carded a 2 over par 72 in his opening round of the Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at the Thornhill Club in Ontario.
The Elmhurst Golf & Country Club member is only four strokes back of leaders Zachary Hallborg and Charles Fitzsimmons, both of Ontario.

Markusson are Scharf are only two strokes off the lead in the Mid Master Division.
Manitoba sits fourth in the Inter-Provincial Team Competition at +5, only three strokes back of first place Nova Scotia.
Jason Ludke of Pine Ridge Golf Club captured the 2022 PGA of Manitoba Fall Championship at the Carman Golf and Curling Club.
Ludke carded a 68 in his final round to finish the 36 hole event at 139. Devon Schade of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club and Glendale Golf & Country Club’s Justin Ford tied for second at 141.
The Assistants Champion is Justin Ford of Glendale, who needed a playoff to claim the 2022 title.
Southwood, St. Boniface, Pine Ridge & Transcona win Women’s Interclub Championships

It was a picture perfect day at St. Boniface Golf Club for the Women’s Interclub “A” & “B” Championships.
Southwood Golf & Country Club won the Interclub “A” Gross Championship with a 245 total. Rhonda Orr (77), Fran Povoledo (83) and Ruth Schappert (85) combined for a five stroke victory over the Glendale Golf & Country Club.
St. Boniface Golf Club won the Net Championship at even par 222 by four strokes over Southside Golf Course. Mindy Lichtman (72), Helene Findlay (75) and Joni Shaw (75) led the host course to first place.

Pine Ridge Golf Club won the Interclub “B” Gross Championship with a 316 total. Hope Mattus (101), Tam Yamashita (107) and Brenda Prystako (108) combined for the victory. St. Boniface and the Portage Golf Club tied for second place, just two strokes back.
Transcona Golf Course won the Net Championship at 224, two strokes better than both Portage and Pine Ridge. The winning team included Marilyn Sippel (73), Edwina Larsen (74) and Rachelle Krasny (77).

Winnipeg’s Addison Kartusch shot a 75 in her final round at the Canada Summer Games to finish 9th on the leaderboard in the Female Competition. The St. Charles Country Club finished the four round event at 303.
Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Cala Korman, of Killarney, carded a 79 Saturday to finish at 316.
After firing a 66 Friday, Tina Liang of British Columbia followed it up with a 68 and won the Gold Medal with a 274 total.
Dauphin’s Eric Prokopowich, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, finished 11th at 296 on the Male leaderboard after shooting a 71 in his final round.
Headingley’s Grady Chuback, also of St. Charles, ended play at 305 after a 78 Saturday.
Cooper Humphreys of British Columbia won the Gold Medal with a tournament total 277 after a 70 in his final round.
Manitoba finished 7th out of 10 provinces in the Mixed Team Competition with a 598 total. British Columbia won Gold at 543.

Headingley’s Grady Chuback had the low round of the day for Manitoba’s four golfers taking part in the Canada Summer Games.
The St. Charles Country Club member shot a 1 over par 73 and is currently 16th on the leaderboard with a 227 total.
Dauphin’s Eric Prokopowich, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, is two strokes ahead of Chuback in 15th place at 225 following a 74.
Cooper Humphreys of British Columbia and Quebec’s Guilliame Paquette are tied for atop of the Individual Male Leaderboard at 9 under par 207.
Winnipeg’s Addison Kartusch, also of St. Charles, carded a 78 to sit 9th on the Individual Female leaderboard at 228.her second consecutive 3 over par 75 in the Ladies Competition to find herself 9th on the leaderboard.
Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member Cala Korman, of Killarney, bettered yesterday’s round by a single stroke shooting a 5 over par 77 and is tied for 12th.
Lauren Kim and Tina Liang, both of British Columbia, share the lead at 10 under par 206.

Prokopowich has low round for Manitoba on Day 2 at Canada Summer Games

Dauphin’s Eric Prokopowich, a Golf Manitoba Public Players Club member, shot a 2 over par 74 Thursday at the Canada Summer Games.
After a slow start, Prokopowich finished strong making four birdies over his final seven holes. He is tied for 14th on the leaderboard in the Male Competition.
Headingley’s Grady Chuback, of St. Charles Country Club, is 16th on the leaderboard after shooting a 76 and sits at 154.
Quebec’s Guilliame Paquette is alone in first place after a 68 which has him 6 under for the tournament.
Winnipeg’s Addison Kartusch, also of St. Charles, carded her second consecutive 3 over par 75 in the Ladies Competition to find herself 9th on the leaderboard.
