Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Champion Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend Country Club and Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg turned some heads making some impressive shots over the past couple days, however failed to advance to the weekend at PGA Tour America’s CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open at Southwood Golf & Country Club.
Kuntz made eight birdies during Friday’s 5-under par 67 to finish with a 36 hole total of 4-under par 140.
Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg carded an 8-over par 80 in his final round to finish at 10-over par 154. It’s the best performance by a Jets player since they were granted an exemption to take part.
John Keefer of the United States is in top spot on the leaderboard at 18-under par through 14 holes thanks to nine birdies and five pars so far in his second round.
Fellow American Neal Shipley, who was the Low Amateur at the Masters and U.S. Open, is one stroke back in second place at 17-under par 127 following rounds of 9-under par 63 and 8-under par 64.
